This week I've decided to do something different from the usual sort of ideas-based blog post. We'll be back to normal programming next week, but for now, to celebrate the release of my latest single – Feels Like Rain – which came out on Friday, I've composed a short poem. It's called – wait for it – Feels Like Rain…
Rain is much despised in these parts Because we get copious amounts of it But in places like the Sahara It brings respite from the heat Through this lens, love – good love – is like rain Something to soothe you, to heal you, and ease your pain Love can feel like a thousand things It can break your heart, mend it, or pull on its strings It might come to you in a thousand ways To me, it feels like rain, on the hottest of days
I don't know what has inspired me to do so, but this is the first time I've composed a poem for, and based on a song. I'd love to know what you think. It might just become a regular thing, perhaps something I do with each release in the future. Or maybe not. Either way, I hope this poem gives you insights into the song, and I hope you enjoy it if/when you listen. As always, please let me know what you think of it, let me know what it means to you, and please share it with your friends and family.
Special thanks to Mat Leppanen for the recording and production work. Special thanks to my friend Max Macmillan for designing the artwork. And the most special thanks to my wife, Hollie Fabola for taking the photo that the artwork is based on.
PS: Just a reminder that my latest single, Feels Like Rain is out now, everywhere. You can listen to it on several platforms. Please share it with a friend, share it with your social networks, and consider subscribing to the newsletter (below), my YouTube channel, or wherever else you listen to music.
