Smelling The Roses

a1

I released new music this week.

I released new music this week.

I released new music this week.

Pardon me for belabouring this point and repeating this statement, but I think it's important to stop and smell the roses ever so often. I've been so swept up in all the back-end preparation that I've not been able to savour this moment, this feeling, this accomplishment. It may seem trivial, but I really do consider it an accomplishment.

Once upon a time, I could only dream of being a creative enough person to be able to write a song, and then I started writing songs. Then I started dreaming about being a proficient enough musician to be able to go into the studio and record songs, and then I started doing studio work. Then I started dreaming about having one recorded song available for people to listen to on a major platform, or any platform. And now I have several songs available everywhere music is sold, streamed and downloaded. So, with every new record I release, I owe it to my former self to take a step back and appreciate the journey. I owe it to that fellow who started this journey to look back on how far I've come rather than agonise over the road ahead.

In a sense, that's what All Behind is about, sort of. I'll write a blog post dedicated to the song, the story behind it, the hidden meaning in the lyrics, and other answers to questions I've been getting from listeners. If you're reading this and you have questions, feel free to send them in too. Email or DM me and I'll be sure to include them.

I'd like to wrap up this post with acknowledgements and an ask. Art, especially music, takes collaborative effort to make. I wrote the lyrics and melody to the song, and I sang and played them in the studio, but it wouldn't have sounded anywhere as nice as if not for the musical expertise of Mat and Ville at Animal Farm Records. Anne at Animal Farm was also instrumental in the distribution process which made it possible to reach listeners. My fiancée, Hollie took the photo that the music art was based on, and my friend Max designed it. And then there's you, reading this, listening to the music, supporting my budding creative career. Thank you so much. If you see fit, please keep engaging and keep sharing. If you can, please send the track to someone who might like it, tell your friends and family about it, and feel free to reach out to tell me what it means to you.

PS: Just a reminder that the lead single of the new record is out now, everywhere. You can listen to it on several platforms. Please share it with a friend, share it with your social networks, and consider subscribing to the newsletter (below), my YouTube channel, or wherever else you listen to music.
